CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

POCO LOCO DANCE (grades 1-5)
Students learn basic technique, dance terminology, spatial awareness, choreography and performance skills. The class focuses on Brazilian, African, and Hip Hop movements.

POCO LOCO DRUM (grades 1-5)
Students learn African, Caribbean, Brazilian and contemporary Hip Hop rhythms on a variety of percussion instruments. They are also taught the history of the drums and musical styles.

STILT WALKING (grades 1-5)
This class focuses on basic stilt walking, balance, how to fall safely, dance and performance skills. Students graduate to taller stilts as they advance.

STILT PERFORMANCE (Audition Required) (grades 1-5)
The Stilt Performance class is designed for intermediate level stilt-walkers (are able to walk on stilts independently) who exhibit readiness to perform on stilts as individuals and as part of a performing ensemble. Dance choreography, Acrobatics and public showmanship are explored

ART & DESIGN (grades 9-12)
It all starts with a theme and then an exploration and then art is made from various materials using different methods and style. Make Comic books, installations, wall art, murals, parade float & costume design and construction. Art that stands out and makes a statement.

MUSIC & PERCUSSION (grades 6-12)
This class expands our percussion instruction offering by also including instruction in other musical instruments and musical expression. Students learn African, Caribbean, Brazilian and contemporary Hip Hop rhythms on a variety of musical instruments. They are also taught the history of the instruments and musical styles.

INTERMEDIATE PERFORMANCE (Inter-generational)
This is an intermediate percussion, dance and theater class with an emphasis on performance. The class explores African, Caribbean, Brazilian and contemporary Hip Hop percussion, movements and choreography.

PERFORMING ENSEMBLE (Audition Required)
Guided by Loco Bloco's mission of providing hands-on exploration of music and dance traditions of the Americas, the Performing Ensemble is a creative space for youth and adult artists to create new music and dance works to present in public performances. The Performing Ensemble is specifically for youth and adults who have dedicated time and effort to the study of music, dance and theater, attaining at least an intermediate level of proficiency.

YOUTH APPRENTICE(Additional Application Required)

• All classes culminate in an End Of The Year Performance & Celebration in June

• All students are invited to participate in the San Francisco Carnaval Parade in May and the San Francisco Pride Parade in June.
